Support a National Climate Action Plan: Information and Resources

On Tuesday, June 25, 2013, President Obama unveiled a historic Climate Action Plan that speaks of our moral obligation to address climate change on behalf of future generations. The President spoke about our "need to act" and asked "whether we'll have the courage to act before it's too late."

The President's speech gives all of us the opportunity to highlight our concerns about climate change, and to advocate for action on the local, state, and national levels. Here are some resources to help you take action in support of a national Climate Action Plan and to educate others in your community.

Sample Letter to President Barack Obama

Dear Mr. President:

Thank you for your leadership in presenting a Climate Action Plan which includes cutting carbon pollution, transitioning to clean energy, and practicing energy efficiency. As a person of faith, I agree with you that climate change is a moral and spiritual issue. I will do everything that I can to support meaningful national action on climate change, and will make the necessary changes in my own life to reduce my carbon footprint.

In addition, I accept your challenge to educate others within my congregation and community about the facts surrounding climate change and our responsibility to take action. Thank you, Mr. President, for lifting up climate change as a critical issue, and for promising to protect our children from catastrophic climate disruption.

Leaving our children with a healthy world and a bright future is what’s at stake. I stand ready to do everything I can to help make your Climate Action Plan a reality.

Thank you,
